Both strikingly modern and sublimely simple in design, the Rado Integral watch for men (model R20282712) is ready to meet the demands of black tie galas and boardroom presentations. Made of high-tech ceramics, this fashionable watch is also amazingly durable and virtually scratch-proof. Amazingly thin, it has a spare, tall rectangular dial in black that measures 27mm wide (1.06 inches). It's accented by thin, vertical gold-tone stripes near the edges of the bezel, gold stick hands, gold crown, and four diamonds at the quarter hour marks. The fashionable bracelet band is composed of rounded black ceramic pieces alternating with yellow-gold plated stainless steel. Other features include a date window at 6 o'clock, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, ultra-precise Swiss quartz analog movement, and water resistance to 30 meters (99 feet).

The raw material for Rado's high-tech ceramics is a very fine powder that is pressed or injected into a mold. The powder is compacted into scratchproof ceramic parts in a sintering blast furnace of 1,450 degrees Celsius. These parts are given a brilliant shin by polishing with diamond dust. Highly resistant to scratches, Rado's high-tech ceramics rate an 8 on a scratch-proof scale of 1 to 10 (with aluminum rated less than 3, gold less than 4, steel less than 5, and diamond topping the scale at 10).

About Rado
Founded in Switzerland in 1917, Rado didn't come to prominence until 1962 when the company released the DiaStar--the first watch to be made from scratch-proof hard metal. While other companies use conventional materials like gold, brass or steel, Rado uses ultra-durable materials such as sapphire crystal and high-tech ceramics that had been used in the development of the space shuttle. In 1996, Rado made watch history again presenting with the DiaStar Concept 1--the first watch made from polycrystalline diamond (PCD), a material that has the same hardness as natural diamond. Accuracy, high performance, and lasting value are key to the Rado philosophy--a perfect match to the unique design found throughout the company's timepiece collections.

The Rado Story

The Rado story began in 1917 in the small Swiss town of Lengnau, when the three brothers Fritz, Ernst, and Werner Schlup opened the Schlup & Co. clockwork factory. Exactly 40 years later, it becomes Rado Uhren AG. In 1957, the first watch collection is presented under this name, which marks the beginning of an unusual success story.

Since its founding, Rado has continually wowed watch lovers all over the globe with its groundbreaking innovations. With the classic Original, Rado introduced the first scratch-proof watch to the market in 1962. Many more high-tech developments have followed.

Since the 1980s, the use of special high-tech ceramics has become a well-known brand identifier of Rado watches. The greatest sensation to date, however, has been the invention of the Rado high-tech diamond. With a hardness of 10,000 Vickers, the V10K is the hardest watch in the world.

Rado watches, however, are also famous for their special esthetic qualities. Since 1990 alone, Rado has been the proud recipient of more than 30 international design awards.
